I have to say, I *hate* Spam. Oh, I suppose I'd eat it if I were starving and there wasn't a cockroach in sight to eat. However, there are some Spam lovers on the planet and I couldn't resist this opportunity to do a public service.
Green Eggs and Spam From: CouponNet
Ingredients -
6 eggs 8 oz favorite green chili 1 tin Spam few pats of butter
Directions -
Heat butter-coated fry pan, float eggs in pool of simmering butter. In a separate pan heat 1/4" slices of Spam. Warm green chili in a small sauce pan. Cook all until desired golden fryer brown is achieved. Line Spam slices on plates, with an egg on each slice, then cover with chili. Serve with hot beverage of choice and give thanks to Dr. Seuss.
Spam Then And Chow From: The Nevada State Fair
1 - 12 oz can of Spam, cut in 7-8 slices, sautéed. Mix with: Canned Tomatoes Canned Corn 8 hard crackers 1 can boiled potatoes 1 can peaches Cheese chunks
Serve immediately.
Spam D'Jour From: The Nevada State Fair
To a large kettle add:
1 can cream corn; 1 can evaporated milk; 1 can cheddar cheese soup; 2 cans sliced potatoes, quartered with juice; 1 can Spam, diced; 1 medium onion sautéed in Spam juices; 1 pinch celery salt; salt and pepper to taste
Stir slowly and continually over medium heat until hot. Adjust desired thickness with flour and evaporated milk if necessary.
Serving suggestions:
Garnish with a green onion curl. Serve in round french bread bowls that have been hollowed out. A room temperature glass of Chianti compliments this hearty soup.
Spam Noodles From: The Nevada State Fair
Ingredients:
1-12 oz can of Spam. 2 packages of stir fry Yakisoba Noodles. 1 pound fresh bean sprouts. 1 bunch of cilantro (Chinese Parsley). vegetable oil.
Preparation:
Cut Spam into 1" x 1/4" x 1/8" thick pieces. Wash bean sprouts & cilantro in separate colanders. Dice cilantro into 1/2 inch pieces. Remove noodles from package & separate noodles.
Cooking:
Heat wok or deep frying pan with high heat. Cook all the time with high heat. Add oil. Add Spam and brown. Add noodles and brown. Add spice packets included with noodles. Add bean sprouts. Mix everything well. Turn off heat & add cilantro. Mix well.
Serve immediately
Spam fritters From: Yeeeow
Ingredients:
4oz flour; milk; 1 egg; 1 tin of Spam; lots of chips; 1 TBS spoon oil
Preparation: Put flour in bowl, mix in enough milk to make a runny paste, pour in oil beat in one egg. Slice the Spam up into slices 1/4" thick or thinner if you want more. Dip slices into batter and fry in hot oil until crispy and golden. Smother with ketchup and scoff the lot with chips. Beer can be added to the batter to make it lighter and crispier if you so desire.
Frozen SPAM push-ups From: Yeeeow
Ingredients:
One can SPAM; Grape Juice; 6 Popsicle sticks; 6 toilet paper tubes; One candle; Wax Paper; Mini marshmallows
Preparation: Line cookie sheet with wax paper. Melt candle wax onto inside of TP tubes to coat, place vertically on wax paper, let cool. Frappe SPAM and grape juice in processor, mix well. Add mini marshmallows to taste. Pour mixture into tubes, filling 2/3 full. Insert
Popsicle stick. Freeze and enjoy!!! (Perfect for weddings and baby showers- juice may be changed to fit color theme)
Spambrosia Heritage From: Yeeeow
Ingredients:
2 large naval oranges, peeled carefully removing all membrane; 3 ripe bananas, peeled and cut into thin slices; 1 can SPAM, removed from can (listen to it shlurp) & cubed; 1/4 cup confectioner's sugar; 1 1/2 cups shredded coconut; a little orange juice (pineapple is sometimes added, or seeded grapes apples or capers)
Preparation: Combine and stir sugar & coconut. Arrange alternate layers of oranges, bananas & SPAM in individual serving dishes. Sprinkle each layer with part of the coconut mixture, reserving some for the top. Pour over the fruit: A LITTLE ORANGE JUICE. Chill well before serving. Instead of the coconut topping, try a garnish of: crushed mint, one cherry, a strawberry or Knox Blox.
Spam Fajitas From: Yeeeow
Ingredients:
1 can Spam cut into strips; 2 small sliced onion's 2 sliced green peppers; 1 tablespoon cooking oil; Picante sauce; 1 tub sour cream; 1 gob guacamole; 6 flour tortillas
Preparation: Sauté onions in cooking oil until clear. Add green peppers and Spam brand meat substitute. Cover and cook for 5 minutes, stirring twice. Heat tortillas on griddle and cover to keep warm. Serve immediately with Picante sauce, sour cream and guacamole on the side. Serves 3.
Chicken Casserole Surprise From: Yeeeow
Ingredients:
1 can condensed Chicken soup; 5-6 small mushrooms; 2oz fresh Spam; Long grain Rice; Bread
Preparation: Pour the condensed soup into a casserole dish. Chop the mushrooms into quarters and add to the dish (more mushrooms can be used if wished). Take the Spam and cut it into small squares and add to the pot. Put it in the oven and let it cook for about an hour at 170 degrees. Serve on a bed of boiled rice. As a side order serve some bread rolls or even some crispy deep fried Spam! Et voila! A student feast.
Upside Down Spam Cake From: Yeeeow
Ingredients:
2 sticks margarine or butter; 3 cups brown sugar; 1 pineapple; 2 cans Spam; 8 maraschino cherries Your favorite cake mix
Preparation: Melt margarine in 9x1.5 inch round baking pan. Stir in sugar. Slice and halve pineapple and Spam. Arrange Spam, pineapple, and cherries in bottom of pan. Prepare cake mix according to directions. Spoon batter into pan. Bake in oven at 350 degrees for 30-35 min. or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool on wire rack for five minutes. Loosen sides; invert onto a plate. Serve warm. Serves 8.
Spam a la d'orange "Spam a la ronge" From: Yeeeow
Ingredients:
1 cup of orange juice - use prepared frozen juice not Tang; 2-3 tbsp approx. brown sugar; 1-2 tbsp approx. prepared mustard; 1 can of Spam
Preparation: Cut Spam into 1/4" to 1/8" thick slices Fry slices in frying pan over medium heat until lightly browned on both sides Prepare sauce by mixing mustard, brown sugar, and orange juice together. Pour sauce over cooked Spam and simmer in pan for 10 minutes or until sauce thickens. Serve with potatoes or rice and your choice of vegetables.
Tagliatelle Papal Spam Style From: Yeeeow
Ingredients:
7 oz SPAM, cut into fine strips; 1 lb. tagliatelle pasta 1 small onion, chopped fine; 10 tbsp butter; 4
eggs 7 oz cream; 1 1/4 cup parmesan cheese, freshly grated; salt and pepper; Tabasco (optional)
Preparation: Melt half the butter and gently cook the onions until transparent. Add SPAM and cook gently for 5 minutes. KEEP HOT! Beat the eggs together with the cream and remaining half of the cheese. Cook pasta, following package directions. Carefully avoid overcooking! Meanwhile, melt the remaining butter in a large pan. Add the egg mixture. Remove from the heat at once! Add salt to taste. Drain the cooked pasta and turn it into the large pan containing the egg mixture. Stir well. Now add the hot SPAM and onion mixture. keep stirring until the hot pasta and SPAM have caused the eggs to coagulate and form a thick yellow cream. Turn pasta into a heated serving bowl. Add black pepper to taste and serve at once with more grated parmesan. Serves 4.
NOTE: the Pope loves to add 2 tbs. Tabasco sauce, but this may be too spicy for many.
Individual Spam Pies From: Yeeeow
Ingredients:
16 oz Spam Cubed; 1/4 Cup Butter; 1/2 Cup all-purpose flour ;2 tsp. instant chicken bouillon granules; 1/2 Cup Copped
Onion's 1/4 tsp. salt; 1/4 tsp. dried thyme, crushed; 1/8 tsp. pepper; 1 3/4 cup milk; 1 1/2 cup water; 1 cup frozen mixed veggies cooked and drained; 3 tbs. snipped parsley; 1 pkg. (6)
refrigerated biscuits
Preparation: Cook onion in butter till tender, but not brown. Stir in flour, bouillon, salt thyme and pepper. Add milk and water. Cook and stir till thickened and bubbly. Stir in SPAM, veggies and parsley. Heat 'till bubbly. Immediately pour mixture into 6 individual casseroles. Quarter biscuits. Quickly place 4 pieces atop HOT filling in each casserole. Bake in 400 degree oven about 10 to 12 minutes or till biscuits are browned.
Makes 6 servings.

can Spam
10 oz. Velveeta cheese
1/4 cup onion, diced
Grate the Spam and the Velveeta cheese (difficult to do, but it can be done).
Mix all ingredients together by squishing with your hand like you would a
meatloaf mixture.
Spread mixture onto hamburger bun halves and broil until tops are bubbly
and slightly burnt.

cans Spam
1 can Pillsbury biscuit dough
1/2 cup brown sugar
Preheat
oven to 350. Place SPAM, as close
together as possible on cookie sheet. Sprinkle
with brown sugar. Pop Pillsbury
can. Cover SPAM with dough. Mash
edges of dough together with fingertips so that SPAM is not exposed.
Bake for 30 minutes or until dough is golden brown.
Let stand 10 minutes before carving.
Basic
Baked SPAM

can SPAM
2 teaspoons yellow mustard
Whole cloves
2 teaspoons water
2/3 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon vinegar
Preheat
oven to 375 degrees. Score SPAM in
diamond pattern and dot with cloves. Mix
sugar, vinegar, mustard, water and Worcestershire. Brush on SPAM.
Bake 25 to 30 minutes, basting three or four times. Note:
This is a generous amount of topping, enough for two cans of SPAM at
once, if you want to serve more.

Spambalaya
1
(12 ounce) can SPAM Lite Luncheon Meat, cubed
1 cup chopped onion
2/3 cup chopped celery
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 (14-1/2 ounce) can Cajun style or regular stewed tomatoes
1 (10-3/4 ounce) can lower sodium chicken broth
1/2 teaspoon dried leaf thyme
6 to 8 drops hot pepper sauce
1 cup CAROLINA or RIVER rice
2 tablespoons chopped parsley
In
large non-stick skillet or 3-quart non-stick saucepan, sauté SPAM Luncheon
Meat, onion, green pepper, celery, and garlic until vegetables are tender.
Add tomatoes, chicken broth, thyme, hot pepper sauce, and bay leaves.
Bring to a boil; stir in CAROLINA or RIVER rice.
Cover. Reduce heat and
simmer 20 minutes or until rice is tender.
Discard bay leaves. Sprinkle
with parsley. Makes 6 servings.

and Popping Peas
1
can SPAM
1/2 package medium egg noodles
1 large can whole tomatoes
1 package frozen peas
1 package dry onion soup
Fry
SPAM cubes for a few minutes. Add
soup mix and tomatoes. Mash the tomatoes
with a spoon. Add noodles
(uncooked) and cook until soft. Then,
add peas and cook a few minutes. Do
not overcook. They should pop in
your mouth.

Quiche
1
(9inch) pie shell, frozen or your own
recipe
1 can (12 ounces) evaporated milk
1 tablespoon butter or margarine
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup SPAM, cut into 1/2 inch strips
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 cup onion, sliced
Dash of Tabasco sauce
1 cup grated cheese (Swiss, Cheddar, Parmesan
cheese or Jack)
1 cup broccoli, sliced and parboiled
Bake
pie crust in 450 degree oven for 5 minutes.
Set aside. Parboil (or microwave) broccoli and drain.
Sauté SPAM and onions in butter until onions are limp.
Fill pie crust with SPAM, onions, broccoli and grated cheese.
Beat together eggs, evaporated milk, nutmeg, salt and Tabasco sauce.
Pour egg mixture over the ingredients in pie crust.
Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Bake
at 425 degrees for 10 minutes. Reduce
oven temperature to 350 degrees and bake for 20 minutes or until quiche is set
and golden brown. Cool 10minutes before slicing.
Serves 6.
